Performance Of EPDM Cable Terminations Under Various Polluted Conditions

Ethylene-Propylene-Diene Monomer (EPDM) insulators are used as indoor and outdoor insulators for high and medium voltage applications. This paper presents detailed investigations of the electrical properties of EPDM cable terminations. The effects of different environmental conditions (Dry and Wet at different salinities) under the effects of various levels of the ultraviolet (UV) radiation on EPDM cable termination have been studied through this work. The effect of Silicon grease coating on the EPDM insulators is also studied at different environmental conditions in order to improve their performance.
